Hi, I’m Derek. I write historical fiction with attitude – I mean the stories have attitude, not me. Well, most of the time… I have a keen interest in all things historical, especially late medieval. I’m also an amateur archaeologist and take part on a Roman dig in the summer months.
My debut novel is Feud which is an historical action novel set during the Wars of the Roses period. I write mainly about fictional characters but I weave their stories around the events and people of the time. It’s important to me to be true to the history but I dare say I don’t always succeed.

Hi Derek. It’s nice to meet you. I write historical fiction, too, but started even later than you did. I didn’t start writing my first novel until I’d retired from teaching five years ago. You have a good few under your belt. The Wars of the Roses is a fascinating period of history (I’m a Lancastrian and my husband’s a Yorkist, so it’s been fun and games for 46 years in our house!) 🙂 Anyway, I intend download a copy of Feud, but I already have a long TBR list, so it may be a while before I get round to reading it.
